Under the theme of linocut(a types of letterpress), we commissioned six artists to create artworks using linocut for exhibition. This was the first time for all of them to use the technique in their works, and it was also an experimental attempt for the gallery, which possesses a print studio, to start from scratch.

[Artist Statement]
I used to study copperplate engraving , but I almost make no prints now.
After hearing the idea of exhibition Linocut from the art director of Gallery Nomart, despite the simple technique, I wondered whether there was anything simple but could only be done with linocut. So I created“1089” whose plate was made by punching simple circles out of linoleum, and “768”, which were printed on a plate filled with the circles punched out of linoleum of the former. “1089” does not have the ink on the punched out part and it becomes a hole for light, and “768” , whose plate was pasted by the circles punched out from “1089” , catches the light escaped from it. This is the colorless track of light.
