This silkscreen print is a two-dimensional representation of the body poses in "VESSEL," a performance piece created in collaboration with Kohei Nawa and French choreographer Damien Jalet, which has been touring the world in recent years. In the performance, the poses play an important role along with the stage set, creating various forms with a mass of bodies that hide their faces. In this work, the artist was concerned with how to create "black," which is like a faint lighting in the dark, and repeated many attempts were made in order to bring out the world view of VESSEL. The artist and the studio were both satisfied with the result, which is a delicate and deep image created by printing over black and medium-conditioned silver in a perfect balance.
